    What is the use of GATE Result?
    Admission to Postgraduate Courses, with MHRD Scholarship/ Assistantship, in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Pharmacy in various colleges/institutes in the country is open only to those who qualify GATE exam. Apart from this, some engineering colleges/institutes specify GATE as mandatory for admission of students through self- financing mode. However, the importance of GATE score varies from institute to institute.
    Why should I choose two examination cities?
    Generally, you are allotted the centre in one of the cities you have chosen. Therefore, the choice of two cities widens your scope of getting the desired centre.
    How can be calculate the GATE score?
    The GATE score of a candidate is computed from:

    Where,
    S = GATE score (normalised) of a candidate,
    M = Marks obtained by a candidate in a paper,
    Mq = Qualifying Marks for general category candidates in the paper,
    M1 = Average Marks of top 0.1% or 10 (which ever is higher) of candidates in the paper,
    S1 = GATE score assigned to (around 900), and
    Sq = GATE score assigned to Mq (around 300)
    Mq is usually 25 marks (out of 100) or , which ever is higher. Here µ is the mean of marks in a paper and is the standard deviation
    What s New in GATE 2013?
    1. A new paper Ecology and Evolution is introduced in GATE 2014.
    2. Examinations for all the 22 papers will be conducted by an ONLINE Computer Based Test (CBT). The online examination paper will conatin some questions for which numerical answers must be keyed in by the candidate using the virtual keypad. Rest of the Questions shall be of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type.
    3. GATE 2014 examinations will be held during forenoon and afternoon sessionson alternate weekends (saturday and sunday) between 1st February 2014 and 2nd March 2014. Examinations for some of the papers in GATE 2014 will be held in multiple sessions. Exact details on complete examination schedule will be notified at a later date.
